Our Mission & Schedule of Events

Pets for U.S. Vets ~ Our Mission:
To get as many pets as possible adopted out of the Washington Area Humane Society at no charge to our local Veterans. Thanks for visiting this site to catch up on the news surrounding 84 Fitness Center's "Pets for U.S. Vets" mission. This year's 3rd Annual "Furry Fall Festival" (a social event for dogs and their people) is on Oct. 6, 2012 and will be in the 84 ball fields next to 84 Lumber Co. Scroll to the beginning of this blog if you would like to understand how and why this program was started. To view pictures from our previous dog parties, just click on our facebook badge. Bethel Park TV has stepped up to help us. Please take a few moments and view our TV shows. I'm working all year to gather more groups and people to support our cause. Watch as the WAHS shows off the animals that need adopted. Contact me, Suzi Smith, at dogparty84@aol.com with any questions. Because of 84 Fitness Center's and manager Lynn Osborn's continued support in this program, Veterans no longer pay adoption fees at the Washington Area Humane Society.

Fox and Hound Bike Run

The Claysville American Legion Riders, Post 639, are sponsoring a bike, car and truck run to benefit 84 Fitness Center's Pets for U.S. Vets program at the Washington Area Humane Society.

It's on Saturday, Sept. 29, 2012. The ride starts at the American Legion Post 639 in Claysville. Registration is from 9:30-10:30 a.m. and the Fox leaves at 11:01. Please plan on joining them. They are raising money ahead of time to contribute to the DogParty on Oct. 6. You can always email me at dogparty84@aol.com or contact the Legion.  It's a wonderful thing that our local veterans are doing to support this initiative. Let's keep this program moving along so we can give back to our veterans and help our shelter dogs and cats find their forever homes.
